Rated 1 Stars (out of 5) - Ii get an error that says "the group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation" :(

Commented Unassigned: Virtual router crashes on startup, doesn't work at all. [24874]

Originally my problem was that when I tried to run virtual router, there would be a message at the bottom saying "Can not manage Virtual Router. The Service is not running.".

So I tried the solution posted by jk1 https://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/workitem/24659

Trying this solution only made things worse, now instead of saying "Can not manage Virtual Router. The Service is not running.", windows just instantly comes up with an error message saying "Virtual Router Manager has stopped working" and tries to send an error report.

Tried the solution but the file was denying me access! Could not edit it at all. How else do I handle this issue?

Thanks,

New Post: how to create a hidden virtual router?

Nope as the feature isn't there, if anything this virtual router software is as basic as you'll get. If your wanting to hide the SSID, you'll probably have to pay for commercial solutions.

How can make sure your app is compatible with my laptop?
Or
vice versa?

Even after removing that line, the program still states that the service is not running, can not manage, AND after a few seconds I get a windows popup stating that the VRM has stopped working.

Created Unassigned: VRM crashes, Device related? [24995]

December 17, 2013, 1:57 am

I posted previously adding comments to two other issues, but I thought I would start a new thread with this, since my trouble-shooting may point in a different direction than the other ones.

I was having the issue where the VRM would start up, stating that it could not be managed, because it was not started. Then it would crash.

Now, the program starts up, and stays open, until I plug in my USB wireless adapter. Then it immediately crashes, and resumes telling me it can't be started followed with an instant crash.

I am using an Edimax EW-7811Un 150 Mbps Wireless 11n Nano Size USB Adapter.
It can be found at: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003MTTJOY/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have updated the driver, and the adapter works fine otherwise.
I am using Win 7 Ultimate Edition

Any Advice?

New Post: Unable to obtain IP address for android device

December 17, 2013, 10:11 pm

The Solution is to use a fixed IP address for the Virtual WiFi Miniport as follows:

IP Address: 192.168.137.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

If connecting is still a problem then assign a Static IP address on the Android device wireless connection (Advanced Settings) as follow:

IP Address: 192.168.137.2 (2 to 255)
Gateway: 192.168.137.1
DNS1: 8.8.8.8
DNS2: 8.8.4.4

If both of the above are used the connection time is almost instantaneous.

Tested with Galaxy Tab 10 and Galaxy Note 3

Cheers.

Just wondering if it's okay to make my PC a source of wifi for all the mobile phones in the office. I worry that it may cause problems with our network.

I just had this message "Can not manage Virtual Router. The Service is not running." on my new windows 8.1 laptop.

Run virtual rooter as an administrator solved that problem on my computer.

New Post: Instant Crash...

December 20, 2013, 11:11 pm

I posted previously in issues, but there's been no help there...maybe this is where I'm supposed to post.

I was having the issue where the VRM would start up, stating that it could not be managed, because it was not started. Then it would crash.

I have updated the driver, and the adapter works fine otherwise.

The VRM is running in the services. ICS is running in services.

Mode=allowed is on.

netsh wlan show drivers says that hotednetworks is supported.

Any ideas?
